Blog Entry 4: The Hype

Kalle lash wrote in her passage “Hype” the “Advertisements are the most prevalent and toxic of the mental pollutants”. Mental pollutants can affect you in harmful ways, physically and emotionally. Advertisements appear un-harmful and seem to just inform you on a product or service with brightly colored banners and have your favorite celebrity with the product or service on television. Advertisements are everywhere to convince you to buy their product but when you end up buying it you realize that you never needed that product in the first place or it isn’t very good for you. I agree with Kalle Lash when she could hear classical music and now all she hears is the commercial jingles.
In "Hype" by Kalle Lasn wanted the readers to know how advertisements can be a mental pollutant and how it can effect you in your daily lives. Advertisements are everywhere like T.V, banners, radio, buses, billboards, stadiums and etc. Lasn explains how you cant escape advertisements to find piece and quiet. "Every day an estimated 12 billion display ads, 3billion radio commercials and 200,000 TV commercials are dumped in North America's collective unconscious"stated by Lasn. Advertisements are there anywhere you go and cant be escaped.
There are many different kinds of advertisements for instance clothing, food and electronics. Physically everything can harm you because you end up buying things you never needed which stays in the back of your closet, given away or just maybe sold again. The things you buy may be the hype of that time period but sooner or later it becomes a fad. Clothing is advertisements are in varies of different categories which polluted women and men all around the world to local to high fashion. Women, men, children and teens see these advertisements and they have this need to buy clothing in the magazines, billboards, and on their favorite shows, which goes out of season and becomes something in the back of your closet and you never wear. For food like fast food, restaurants, and frozen food are the most advertised and is an aid for obesity. This affects your health and your everyday life. Technology grows faster and faster every day and a new product is presented which everyone wants because it’s new and everyone has to have it. By the next day or next week the same product comes out but it is more advanced. This means this is the new product that “everyone must have”.
Advertising affects you emotionally by showing you thing that might be very exciting but not very healthy and even may be dangerous like cigarettes and alcohol. On posters and commercials of cigarettes can show you dangerous affects from smoking like lung cancer, amputations and rotting teeth. Which can make you either curious or have a loved one have one of these deadly causes. Drinking can be the same way but shows you more of the exciting and fast paced life of drinking. Behind the scenes there is more to it like drunk driving, fights, rape, and embarrassing moments.

  1. The introduction of this essay is wonderful. She had a clear concept about how ads are distracting people.
The claim what she gave is that- the ads use famous celebs for making the buyers interested in it and to sale the product in a high range in the market.
Many personal and general experiences as examples are being places in this essay to make it more flourished.
The essay might me more than 400 words but you never feel boring while going through it.It always appears like something new and interesting will be coming up.
In her summarize part does reflect the article in some how means.
I will just advice her to make her writing a bit shorten up.
